Welcome

“A friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.”

– Grace Pulpit

If there is one thing I have learned from families with children with FASD it is that the most powerful and sustaining source of support and education on how to survive and thrive is other families! We know that families come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and communities, and on any given day your family might be thriving….or surviving, barely! When a family with kids with FASD is clicking along through a period of relative calm, I have never met a more generous and supportive network of caregivers. And, when the road gets bumpy, we know the most helpful people to turn to often are other families who have experienced these same bumps along the road.

Because our goal is to serve the families of Minnesota, and because we know you cannot always predict when you may have a minute or an hour to attend a class, learn a fact, join a discussion or share an idea, we decided we needed to invest in creating a family center that could be accessed at any time, and provide a wide variety of ways to connect with other parents.

So, we hope you will see this place as a place for you.   We hope you will find meaningful connections with other families and helpful information and facts that make your road a little smoother. Thanks for “coming in” to the Family Center. We look forward to helping you learn and create your circle of support. Let us hear from you if we can improve what we are doing, or we can make this place more useful.

Welcome! Sara Messelt, MOFAS Executive Director
