FASD Prevention

If women do not drink alcohol during pregnancy, FASD is 100% preventable.  MOFAS works to prevent FASD by increasing public knowledge.

Pregnant Pause

FAS Pregnant Pause

Each year MOFAS sponsors Pregnant Pause events around the state, which are part of a community education campaign that aims to inform pregnant women, their partners, friends and other community members about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. These free, fun and informative events promote a happy, healthy and alcohol free nine months of pregnancy.  Along with prizes, activities and information, the event features a competition between local bartenders to create the best non-alcoholic drink, which is judged by the attending pregnant women.

Public Awareness

A major statewide public awareness campaign is currently running which is designed to inform the general population about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy.  The message is "Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  Cured.  Simply don't drink during pregnancy."  The campaign includes statewide radio and outdoor as well as select print advertising in MN Women's Press and Mpls/ St. Paul Magazine to help get this message out.
