049 – Zero Alcohol for Nine Months.

All women should be aware of what can happen to an unborn baby when a woman drinks alcohol while pregnant.   Whether you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant, MOFAS wants you to know that there is no safe level of alcohol during pregnancy.  Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause your baby to be born with serious brain damage.  This condition called Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) lasts a lifetime.  But it is preventable.  Just remember 049 – Zero Alcohol for Nine Months.

Did you know?

50% of all pregnancies are unplanned, and many women do not know they are pregnant until they’re several weeks along.

Nationally, one newborn in 100 is born with a disability from prenatal alcohol exposure. That is more common than Autism or Down Syndrome.
