The Minikahda Club, Minneapolis Location Details
cheers to 20 years
You are invited to join us in celebrating the work of MOFAS and our Founder and Board President Emeritus, Former First Lady Susan Shepard Carlson on Thursday, May 10, 2018. The celebration will include music, fabulous appetizers, an inspirational program, and a live auction at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis. We truly hope you will join us as we raise our glasses and toast Cheers to 20 Years!
Twenty years ago Susan had a big idea: to create an organization that would become a hub of hope for people living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), a brain injury caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. She also dreamt of a culture in which women understand the risks of alcohol use during pregnancy. Over the past two decades MOFAS has become a national leader in the area of FASD prevention and intervention, supporting those impacted by an FASD, and spreading the message that there is no known safe level of alcohol use during pregnancy.
Join the MOFAS Board and staff to celebrate this important anniversary as we say Cheers to 20 Years! We promise that you will have a good time and be inspired, and we hope you will consider making a donation. If you do, we will be good stewards of your gift and value you as an investor in the mission of MOFAS. Have a look at our live auction items you can bid on.
Join us for a special performance by Rhonda Laurie Trio. Rhonda Laurie hails from New York City, where she grew up in a family of professional musicians and performers. Rhonda began her career as a cabaret singer in Manhattan nightclubs. Her approach is modern and fresh, obscuring musical boundaries.
"Laurie is a local treasure, a singer with a lush, lovely voice, a relaxed sense of swing, a warm and gracious stage presence, and a gift for the demands of gypsy jazz, which only looks easy."
- Pamela Espeland, MinnPost
FASD is caused when a person drinks alcohol during pregnancy. Here in Minnesota, an estimated 7,061 babies are born every year with possible brain damage caused by prenatal alcohol exposure.
Consider sponsoring the event. There is a level to fit any price range. It's a great way to support the mission of MOFAS while also promoting your company or organization.
Proceeds raised at this event will help ensure that all women will know that there is no safe level of alcohol during pregnancy, and that individuals and families impacted by prenatal alcohol exposure will be identified, supported and valued.
